“Wicked” is coming to Shea’s, and will be featured in the theatre’s Annual Gala, next Saturday. The Black-Tie event serves as Shea’s largest fundraiser and has been held annually for the last 18 years. This year’s chairpersons are John Zak, Esq. Partner at Hodgson Russ LLP, and Group Vice President Shelley Drake with M&T Bank .
The extended fun-filled evening will start off with cocktails and a silent auction at Buffalo’s Adam’s Mark Hotel. Following, a gourmet dinner will be served. From there, the party will travel to Shea’s via provided transportation, where the performance will begin. All ticket-holders for this event will receive preferred seating.
After the show, Shea’s will be hosting a Post Party, featuring music by The Jim Tudini Band and plenty of dancing, drinks, coffee, and desserts to go around. Cast members are also invited to attend the post-performance gathering.
All proceeds from this event will go back to the theatre, as per Shea’s mission statement: “To restore and maintain Shea’s Buffalo Theatre for present and future generations to enjoy as a working historic theatre providing a wide variety of live performing arts experiences for our patrons and innovative and effective educational experiences fostering an appreciation of live theatre by area youth,” according to Linda Sroka, Development Manager at Shea’s.
Since Shea’s is a non profit organization, ticket sales go toward production costs, allowing Shea’s ticket prices for Broadway shows to remain as some of the lowest around. Any additional profits from ticket sales go toward the restoration and maintenance of the National Historic Site. Funds raised by the Gala will also benefit the restoration of the theatre.
