Travers Collins At Johnson Park

On Thursday, April 17th, from 2:00 to 5:30 pm, Travers Collins will be shooting a video for the promotion of the Johnson Park Restoration Fund. Being that it is a workday, many of the locals will not be able to attend this auspicious occasion, so they’re sending out a shout to those who may have flexible schedules to come on down and be part of the filming along with the first mayor of Buffalo – Ebenezer Johnson. That’s right, he’ll be there and he wants to have a picture taken with you, too, so bring your cameras!
This video will be used for the final presentation to the 21st Century Fund since this project is one of four finalists for the grant. If the grant is awarded to this project, Phase 2 of the three phase plan will be totally completed with a running track circling the park, new sod, arborist remediation of the 150+ year old oaks and chestnuts, chalkwalk sections for the local kids, security lighting, a meditation labyrinth, bike racks, doggy stations and more.
Phase 3 will be next and that will be funded by a soon-to-be announced naming rights promotion for the reinstallation of the fountain surrounded by a Victorian-styled conservatory that will house a youth docent program and educational opportunities for all ages regarding gardening, cultural understanding, citizenship and more.
Additionally, to assure the future of the land, there is also an Endowment being developed for the perpetuity of the programs and maintenance.
The whole project is a great compliment to the ever growing development of the Delaware Corridor and can serve not only locals from the Lower West Side and new lofts, but also create additional tourism dollars for our city.
