Factory Design and Fabrications

A month ago I posted on Frank Fantauzzi’s newly renovated gallery space on Main Street. Last evening we drove by and saw the lights on and decided to pop in. We found craftsmen John Spielman and Dan Puff (UB grads) working away on an art instillation that will eventually end up hanging in the University at Buffalo Center for the Arts’ gallery. Some of you may remember John and Dan from the design work that they did at BRO offices. It turns out that the two finally started a business called Factory Design and Fabrications – a partnership that is dedicated to building custom industrial works of art, furniture and cool office and home interiors.
In the back of the gallery, the artisans had just finished completing a custom metal staircase for a Dwell Magazine FlatPak house. How cool is that? We were lucky enough to have John and Dan work on BRO’s office workstations and conference table, both of which were built in this Main Street gallery space. Now this 4’x10’x20′ art installation, called ‘Introversions’ will be added to their list of unusual project creations. They have even enlisted the help of a handful of UB students to help complete some of the larger bodies of work.
If you would like to find out more about Factory Design and Fabrications, check out their website… these guys are up for any creative challenge. And here’s a slide show that shows BRO conference table, workstations, reception desk… Frank’s custom staircase, fireplace, loft (all on Main Street above gallery).
