Buffalo’s Adam Zadok is about to embark on a journey in the third round of FUSE TV’s BODOG Battle of the Bands to Cleveland’s House of Blues on January 20, and he’s chartered a luxury bus to bring a hometown cheering section along.
Zadok (pronounced Zay.dock), is Israeli born, NYC raised, and dedicated to Buffalo. He’s made it to the round that will take Zadok’s band to the regional finals and could ultimately lead to a $1M recording contract with BODOG.
“We’re a four-piece band right now,” Zadok said, “but because we signed up when we were a three piece, that’s how we have to continue all the way through to the end.” Presently in his band are drummer, Randy Kaus; bassist, Giulio Genua; and Zadok, who is a guitarist and vocalist. The newest addition to the band is Curt James, who also plays keys, guitar and sings.
Zadok said his band plays out a lot. Merlin’s this Saturday, the Ellicott Manor after that, but the date at the House of Blues in Cleveland has him really excited. With a genre described as melody-driven power pop rock, Zadok writes most of the bands material. “We do a few cover tunes, some Cars, a Neil Young song, but we do it with our own spin.”
As for the trip, “We’re trying to get a busload. We’re about half full and I’d like to get 50 people to make the day trip…the day before MLK Day…just to have a Buffalo contingent. It’s going to be a real good time and we’ve got space to fill.” Zadok also said that the $40 fee for the coach will include the $15 admission, along with pizza and drinks. “We’ll leave from North Park Academy at 10:30AM and be back by 11PM. Audience participation weighs big. You can vote for the band, and promotion is very important to the judges because it shows effort. People will feel the hometown connection.”
18 bands will be featured on the 20th, and Zadok would love to make it to the finals. “We’re trying to make some noise here,” he said.
