“Ben Franklin once said, ‘In this world, nothing is certain but death and taxes.’ It may be time to add “free tax preparation services” to this famous quote.”
If you’re earning less than $39,000 a year, you may be interested to find that you can take care of your tax preparations for free. United Way of Buffalo & Erie County’s CASH (Creating Assets Savings & Hope) have once again teamed up to offer money-saving help. This is the second year that the one-day program is being offered. The first year was so successful that “12,000 working families and individuals receive more than $14 million in tax refunds and credits through its Free Tax Preparation Network”. That’s a whopping savings of $1,532,700 in fees and charges for the families. The initiative is free for anyone that qualifies and takes place Saturday – January 26th, from 9:00am to 3:00 pm at the Buffalo Convention Center.
Taxes will be electronically filed for free on that day (must have all of the necessary forms). A variety of other cost-saving services will be offered pertaining to information on job training programs and free or low cost banking options.
*Funding for the program is made possible by the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, HSBC, M&T Charitable Foundation, The John R. Oishei Foundation, the Western New York Women’s Fund, and United Way of Buffalo & Erie County. More than 60 community-based organizations and government agencies have signed on as partners in the initiative.
