While visiting the Buffalo Central Terminal website today (looking for the CTRC video), I came across photos of an incredible model that had been posted by Mike Miller (VP). When I spoke to Mike about it he told me that he knew that the builder, Jim Mruk (former board member), had built a model, but he had no idea that he had made the entire concourse. A note that went along with the posting at the Flickr site (where Mike came across the images) reads:
Scratch built “O” scale Central Terminal built by my friend out of wood. It is a little out of scale because it is missing a few floors due to the height of his ceiling in his basement. It is attached to his layout and it does have the passenger platform that can be served by trains on his layout of course! The interior of a Central Terminal model in “O” scale that resides in Rochester. It was built completely from scratch out of wood by a amazingly talented man.
This model is an incredible site to behold – both inside and out. From the lighting to the people… thanks to Mike for uploading the photos, and thanks to Jim Mruk for creating it. Mike tells me that the board is currently working on the 2008 events calendar. All of the great events from last year… with more and more people becoming fans of the iconic East Side structure.
