Luxury living in the heart of the Theater District is now more affordable. Due to tax credits, Plaza Group has reduced the rental rate for their four spectacular units at the The Pierce Building, 653 Main Street. Plaza Group purchased the formerly underutilized property in December 2003 and completed a meticulous restoration late last year adding vitality to the Theater District. The attractive two-story terra cotta building sits directly across from Shea’s and was built in 1923.
At $2,500, Pierce’s units had been amongst the most expensive rentals downtown, though fairly large with 1,700 to 2,000 sq.ft. of living space.
“After a very lengthy process, we were able to obtain historic tax credit benefits for the Pierce Building. By passing this benefit through to our tenants, we have been able to lower the apartment rents to $1,500 per month, plus utilities,” according to Plaza Group’s Carolyn Murray.
