Even though I have not had the opportunity to contact the owners of this new business, the concept was still a hot topic of conversation this past weekend. The sign out front reads, “Girl Fashion – Hair Products, Groceries, Sneakers and Purses!” This is a concept that, up until now, has not yet hit our radar. This mysterious business has somehow eluded many of the Amherst Street business people who are very curious as to what sort of merchandise will be sold (other than the obvious general categories listed on the sign).
The building, located at 406 Amherst Street (near Grant), has a mix of materials comprising the facade. It actually looks as if it could be one of those mini-malls that were popular in the ’70s. This is one of the many buildings on Amherst Street that I have never see the inside of. And now that there are a number of commercial start-ups on the street (that we’ve covered) it’s intriguing to think what the interior of this building might be like. When I called around, I could not locate anyone that knew anything about the business or the space.
On another pass-by I noticed that the paper on the front door is for a permit. No other activity was noticeable. Has anyone ever been inside or know what was formerly at this location?
