This year Uniland held their holiday party in the city. The intention was to introduce the much talked about 285 Delaware Avenue office building to clients and associates. For the first time, a large group of people was able to step inside the modern office building to take a peek. The actual party was held in one of the unfinished, first floor retail wings… a large gathering that was dwarfed by the impressive size of the unfurnished, undivided space. The oversized front windows offered an unbelievable view out onto Delaware Avenue where stately buildings could be seen through the lightly falling snow. The party was a celebration of Uniland’s successful urban office development – a tribute of sorts to a building that the developer is proud to showcase.
The way the lobby is lit at night speaks volumes about the modern sensibilities within the space. It’s sleek and handsome. It’s uncluttered and sharp. When the exterior retail wings are eventually filled, this building is going to scream out to passers-by. When those spaces get an infusion of color the whole building will be electric. The interior has so much to offer that it could become an immediate destination if the right retailers procured. In the meantime, the office element has worked wonders for that section of Delaware. It’s filled a major gap in the building sequence… and it’s hopefully on the way to filling a retail niche in downtown Buffalo.
