A quintessential museum district experience unfolded last week on the corner of Elmwood Avenue and Rockwell Road….Rita Argen Auerbach, famed watercolor artist of all things Buffalo and an alumni of Buffalo State College, sat down to instruct her current celebrity artist, the illustrious Dr. Stanley Kardonsky, Buffalo State College VP of Finance and Management.
They are preparing for the Burchfield-Penney Art Center’s upcoming Gala and Art Auction, an annual event to celebrate the accomplishments and vision of a museum dedicated to Western New York art and artists, Friday, October 26th, 2007. Better yet, Rita has inspired this PhD in Chemistry to create an original watercolor of the new museum being built across the street…a project to which they have both dedicated the past seven years. Welcome to the melding and celebration of art, science, and successful developments in our own hometown! More information regarding the unveiling, Gala, and Art Auction can be found here.
Buffalo Rising
Sometimes the authors at Buffalo Rising work on collaborative efforts in order to cover various events and stories. These posts can not be attributed to one single author, as it is a combined effort. Often times a formation of a post gets started by one writer and passed along to one or more writers before completion. At times there are author attributions at the end of one of these posts. Other times, “Buffalo Rising” is simply offered up as the creator of the article. In either case, the writing is original to Buffalo Rising.
