After so many years of being a burned-out, boarded-up, ex-hotspot eatery, 291 Bryant Street has landed a business. The former Bflo Rome Restaurant will now be the Bryant Street Cake Company “featuring exquisite cakes for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays – yummy brownies, wonderful cookies and specialty baked goods”. Over the last two years we have posted multiple reports on the progress of this storefront. From the years of being boarded up with no signs of anyone ever fixing it up… to new ownership that brought with it the hopes that the building would no longer remain an eyesore… to a restored facade that replaced the boards with display windows. Everyone took a stab at writing on this property, which means that the horror-story of a property is getting a much-deserved happy ending.
We’ll keep you posted as we learn more about this exciting development, and this couldn’t have happened at a more appropriate time seeing how successful the neighboring Trattoria Aroma has been doing. This news brings back the days of Ashland Gallery and Just Pasta to an area that sure needed a commercial boost. The ‘Coming Soon’ sign also signals that the business will be serving coffee… let’s hope that there are a couple bistro tables inside to relax and enjoy a piece of cake while waiting for a pick-up. If you look closely at that photo, you can still barely make out the old Bflo Rome sign on the glass in the background.
