One of the region’s most beloved companies, Fisher-Price, is rolling out a brand new line of action heroes and they want Buffalonians to join in on the excitement. The preschool-appropriate action heroes are representative of planets in our solar system. The special local viewing of the line is a different type of marketing approach, which will be accompanied by a 27-minute movie that will be shown throughout the launch. The Fisher-Price team has dreamed up some pretty cool names to go along with the toys, two of which will be appearing in ‘real life’ at The Buffalo Zoo on August 11th from 11am to 4pm.
As I thought about the product launch it struck me that this might really be the first time that Fisher-Price has planned to push a launch by tying it into the city. Juliette Reashor, Senior Manager Public Relations at FP agreed. “This is something new that we’re doing. The event takes place over a full weekend. The Planet Heroes will be ‘landing’ at the airport, before they travel around the area making appearances. ‘Ace’ represents planet earth and ‘Digger’ represents planet mars (both in costume). Not in the recent past have we done something like this in Buffalo. This is a special treat for the city. There is an important learning component to the toys, as well as just being fun. We showed off the Heroes to media at the Toy Fair in NYC, but now we’re excited to show it locally. Kids will be able to play with the action figures, and the airport exposure should generate some excitement.”
Look for the action figures as they make appearances in WNY, then look for them as they hit the national market. And remember that the creativity was generated by a WNY company that has been toying around here for 75 years.
