A last minute reminder for Buffalo artists interested in Artists Fellowships for 2008. A representative from the New York Foundations for the Arts will be holding a free application seminar tonight at Hallwalls. To be considered for the fellowship, artists must work in one of the following mediums: painting, photography, video, fiction writing, music composition, playwriting and screen writing, choreography or architecture and environmental structures. The deadline for applications is October 3, 2007.
The fellowships handed out are $7,000 cash awards made to individual artists living and working in the state of New York. The fellowships have unrestricted use. Since the grant program began in 1985, NYFA has deemed 3,555 artists privileged enough to receive the fellowship. This past year. 122 fellowships were received by applicants. Ed Cardoni of Hallwalls stated, “this seminar gives Buffalo artists who might be considering the fellowship a little edge on how they might submit more effective applications. This seminar is not required but is very helpful.”
