Once upon a time, long, long ago, there was a prince. He was dashing and strong and would spend his days dreamily windsurfing on the beautiful nearby lake. One day, he saw a beautiful princess who became the object of his desire. They met and grew close as they explored the countryside and the bustling avenues of the nearby city where their love blossomed……………..
Love.
I couldn’t shake the idea of a love story when I recently met with Ward and Maureen Pinkel, owners of Urban. How does one maintain a business on Elmwood Ave. for 15 years? Love MUST have something to do with it.
There is of course their love for each other. How else does a couple weather the complexities of living and working together, if not for love? There is also the story of how the idea for the very first Urban Clothing store emerged from a love of windsurfing and snowboarding. Then there is their love for their home, the city of Buffalo and Elmwood Ave., which throughout the 15 years of Urban’s presence, has sometimes seemed a bit unlovable, but not to Ward and Maureen. And finally, the love of their loyal customers who have lived and enjoyed the evolution of the boutique from beach to chic and much, much more!
Ward and Maureen would like to share the love by inviting their friends and customers to a 15th Anniversary Celebration event on Friday, May 11th , 5-9PM. Join them in celebrating this Buffalo “Urban love story” as they host a “Designer Sunglass Trunk Show” featuring the entire collections from D&G, Prada, Miu Miu, Persol, Ray Ban, Revo and Versace. That night, all frames will be available in all colors and their guests will surely be feeling the love with special discounts on ALL current season frames.
If you’ve been looking for love, be sure to stop in to Urban for some oh-so-cool shades to get you ready for the upcoming summer of love.

Buffalo Rising
Sometimes the authors at Buffalo Rising work on collaborative efforts in order to cover various events and stories. These posts can not be attributed to one single author, as it is a combined effort. Often times a formation of a post gets started by one writer and passed along to one or more writers before completion. At times there are author attributions at the end of one of these posts. Other times, “Buffalo Rising” is simply offered up as the creator of the article. In either case, the writing is original to Buffalo Rising.
