Having shared stages with the likes of Eddie Money, the Smithereens, the Crash Test Dummies, Spirit of the West, The Glenngarry Boys, and the Lowest of the Low, as well as being former winners of BMA Awards Top Original Rock Band and Top Recording Artists, McCarthyizm has earned their stripes as one of Buffalo’s favorite Celtic rock groups. Founder Joe McCarthy says, “I grew up listening to traditional Celtic music, and always wanted to marry rock music with the traditional style. McCarthyizm started doing that years ago, and now that we’re writing in that vein, it’s even better. We put out an EP last year, Victor’s Morning, that includes original music and traditional tunes, and we have recorded other songs in that vein for the upcoming full-length CD, due out this summer.” Victor’s Morning is the tune that 107.7 The Lake is playing, and is also included on their third local music disc. McCarthyizm takes the stage Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 4 PM, with a later set at Darcy McGees.
