This Saturday at 9:30 am the city will be auctioning off approximately 250 bikes. The auctioned bikes go to the highest bidder over the course of a two-hour auction. Each bike will be presented one at a time, and the condition of each ride is “As is”. The auction has been taking place for over twenty years, with bikes tagged as unclaimed, lost, stolen, etc. It’s a cash only purchase event with no receipts issued. Once the bike is sold, the new owner can pick it up and ride it home (depending on the condition).
Attendance for the auction can reach over a hundred people, and the proceeds raised go towards a general city fund. If you are interested in attending, arrive shortly before the auction gets underway at the 74 Franklin Street police garage.
