“We have plenty of chocolates and truffles, along with our classic, traditional desserts, and many new favorites,” according to Renee, co-owner of Sweet Tooth.
Renee says that the move down Elmwood to the Corner of Allen sees business going well. “We still have 75 percent of our old business, and 25 percent new. The initial response was that it was going to be hard to park down here, but unless Theatre of Youth is having an event, it’s actually easier most times of the day.”
So, how is the new location? “It’s fun to be on the corner! We see so much,” Renee said. “We miss our old neighbors, but a lot of them have moved also. And the architecture here in Allentown is beautiful. I’m ashamed to say I didn’t really notice it before.”
The new neighbors are great. They see daily traffic and have garnered regular customers from the Elmwood Village Charter School and neighboring businesses.
“And how about your new neighbor…The Bubble God?” I ask. For those of you who don’t frequent the neighborhood (you should change that) there is a man (anonymous to us, for now) who lives above Jim’s Steak-Out. He has a fan, bubble soap and a wand, and an open window overlooking a busy corner. You can figure out the rest.
Renee didn’t skip a beat, “Oh, he’s great. He watches everything that goes on, and keeps the neighborhood safe.”
A kind and benevolent God, and Sweet Tooth truffles too…that’s happy on Valentine’s Day, or any day.
