City Animal Shelter

DSCN0157.JPG
A group of Nardin Elementary students visited the City Animal Shelter on Oak Street today. The seventh and eighth girls were hoping to wash some puppies, but it turned into a day of visiiting with dry puppies who needed some socializing.
The girls didn’t mind so much, and neither did the puppies, who enjoy a chance to frolic. Teacher Katie Daly explained that sometimes, pups are surrendered by the boxful and need TLC along with a bath and various other medical and grooming concerns.
Kids and puppies; it’s a natural match, and this little guy, named Shane, was up for the visit.

Located at 380 Oak Street, the shelter finds responsible new owners for pets, reunites lost pets with their owners, and keeps dangerous animals off the streets.
Those who wish to adopt a pet can email the shelter for an application: Buffalo_Shelter@yahoo.com (for dogs) or rose.shelter@yahoo.com (for cats). After a short approval process, pets can be adopted for the cost of various necessary shots and licensing.
The shelter is always ready to accept help and donations, and can be contacted at 851-5694. Visit their website for hours, directions, and further information.
