Itis time once again for the enormously popular Elmwood Village Tour of Kitchens Sunday October 1 from 11:00 am to 4:30 pm. The Tour of Kitchens will feature 20 fabulous kitchens: 18 kitchens which are new to the Tour this year and two very popular kitchens from last year. Also on the Tour are the kitchens at Buffalo Seminary (event headquarters) and Gildais Club (Wine Tasting site). We are limiting the number of paid tickets to 1200 tickets so buy your tickets early.
The 2006 Tour of Kitchens will be an experience of a lifetime. You will see newly constructed kitchens in historic Buffalo mansions with top of the line manufactured or custom made locally built cabinetry and work spaces, hand- made custom tile, marble or granite countertops, hardwood floors, eclectic lighting fixtures, and professional grade appliances. In other kitchens, the owners, architects, and interior designers created sunny spaces by removing walls, adding windows, and personalizing the kitchens with antiques, paintings, and collectibles.

Several homeowners have used natural renewable environmentally friendly materials for cabinets and flooring. Also on the Tour are cost effective examples where kitchens come alive with faux painted walls or walls painted in colors of Tuscany, the Southwest, or a spice box, and accompanying new counter tops. Purchasing a ticket will give you the opportunity to peek inside the kitchen of a lovely Elmwood Village mansion, Victorian house, or mid 1800s farmhouse and as you leave see gardens in their fall splendor.
Tickets cost $18 in advance and $21 October 1 the day of the event. Patron tickets cost $40 and permit you to enter each kitchen at the head of the line. Thus, no waiting in line! Proceeds from the event will benefit Forever Elmwoodis efforts to support the Elmwood business district and build a strong sense of community in the surrounding neighborhoods.
Tickets are available at: all Wegmans locations, Talking Leaves, New World Record, Elmwood Farmers Market, Junior League office and at or 716-881-0707. Patron tickets are available at Elmwood Farmers Market and through Forever Elmwood.
Elmwood Village Tour of Kitchens: The Elmwood Village Tour of Kitchens Tour begins at Buffalo Seminary at 205 Bidwell Parkway (Event Headquarters) where you may pick up the map and program if you have purchased a ticket in advance. You may also purchase a ticket that day at Buffalo Seminary. Doors open at 10:45 am at Buffalo Seminary and kitchens are available for touring from 11:00 am until 4:30 pm. You may see as many or as few kitchens as time allows.
What will you experience during the Tour of Kitchens? You will view impressive kitchens designed by architects and interior designers on the Tour. Other kitchens were designed and built by their creative owners. Elmwood Village homeowners will graciously open 20 residential kitchens on: Bidwell/Chapin Parkways and nearby hidden streets; Ashland-Norwood-Lafayette; Ashland near Summer; and Oakland Place-Bryant Street. At each residence homeowners and docent volunteers will be available to answer questions about design and craftsmanship . At several of the kitchen sites, you will see beautiful gardens at the height of their fall bloom.
The tour offers a wide range of kitchen styles: from French provincial, English country, cherry, Arts and Crafts, faux painted, eclectic and eat-in family style. If you are looking for ideas that you yourself can implement in a kitchen decorating project then donit miss a fabulously faux painted kitchen or another kitchen designed by its owner an interior decorator. If the kitchen is your favorite room in the house, the place where you prepare delicious foods with ingredients from the Farmersi Market or your garden, the place where you unwind after a long day, or where you entertain your family and friends, the Tour of Kitchens is the event of the season for you.
New to the Tour of Kitchens this year is a Wine Tasting event for ticket holders only sponsored by Gates Circle Liquor at Gildais Club on Delaware Avenue from 12:00 to 4:00 pm. We will also offer a booklet to each ticket holder with recipes used by the homeowners in their kitchens.
Forever Elmwood would like to thank the following generous sponsors who have helped to make this event so deliciously exciting: Artisan Kitchens and Baths at Appliance Associates, Hunt Real Estate, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Western New York, Robinson Home Products, Shop to Cook, WBFO, Paragon Advertising, Buffalo Seminary, Gildais Club, and Gates Circle Liquors.
