I first became aware of Fruit Fresh Up while at the Summer Wellness Block Party. Although there were many worthwhile vendors, Fruit Fresh Up had, by far, the most eye-catching table. A custom carved watermelon and an abundance of bite-sized fruit made for a colorful display.
What is Fruit Fresh Up? I had no idea. I wanted to ask, but there were so many people in front of the table, I barely managed to take this picture. A few weeks later, I got in touch with Colleen Darby, the Marketing Director for the company.
Fruit Fresh Up, located on Scoville Avenue, has been in business in Buffalo for 19 years.
In 1987, Ronald Santora returned to Buffalo after attending college in Rhode Island. Who knew that the fruit cups he had sold on the beach for pocket-money would turn into a thriving Buffalo business? Today, Santorais company employs 66 people. They are currently working on an addition to their existing 6,000 sq. ft. building. The successful business will now occupy a 24,000 sq. ft. work space.
With more and more Americans looking to improve their health and decrease the amount of preservatives and additives they eat, Fruit Fresh Up offers a great alternative to many of the prepared foods currently available. With 24 hours notice, they can deliver a beautifully arranged tray of seasonal fruit to your home or office. Custom-carved watermelons, like the one shown here, are also available.
Much of their business is done commercially. Iim sure that most of us have sampled one of the many fruit and vegetable trays that they supply to Wegmans. New this year, are single-serve fruit and vegetable snacks. Accompanied by a dipping sauce, these are great for lunches.
