This past Saturday’s Downtown Loft Tour (thanks WestCoast) was truly a success in both the eyes of committee members and participants. While hanging out at the Market Arcade (headquarters), I realized that I had never stepped foot into one of the lofts featured on the tour… the Buehl Block Building! So I grabbed some literature and headed for one of the most beautiful old conversions in the city.
The exterior of the Buehl Building is magnificent. Sitting on the corner of Broadway and Ellicott, it is hard to miss such an eye-catching landmark. Actually, the potential for that block of Ellicott is completely palpable. On either side of the Buehl Building are good looking brick structures that look like they are in need of some retail tenants. Now that the lofts on the corner are being rented, there is great hope for that area.
Though not cheap, the Buehl Block Lofts are stunning. From the floors to the bathrooms, these rentals command attention from anyone who visits. Saturday, people were walking around praising the interior for its attention to detail. The lofts also come with some of the coolest appliances found in the city… the bathrooms alone were sensational. As a matter of fact there were small lines of people waiting to view the shower/JacuzziAE systems. These lofts start at $1395 and are located at 36 Broadway.
