Today I tagged along with SnarfyGOe He was off to Hertel Ave to get a haircut at Chickis Barber Shop. After a short visit with Chicky, I left SnarfyG and was off to try the new the dessert bar & bakery n Caramiciis. WOW, did I find something really unique! Not only was the dEcor at Caramiciis quaint, with a very Italian feel, but also the desserts are incredible! Caramici in Italian means ‘dear friends’; as you’ll notice it is a comfortable spot to spend time with your ‘caramici’s’.
I was overwhelmed with choices so I asked Lisa, at the counter, what she found the most delicious. At first she recommended the cassata cake and then steered me towards something that I have never tasted before casavavarian cake ($4). This generous piece of yellow and white layer cake was moist but heavy with a dense ricotta based filling n amazing!
One of my favorite treats of all time is the cuccidatti – an iced Italian fig cookie. Since I desire to sample this cookie at every opportunity I am self-proclaimed as the eofficial cuccidatti taste testeri. Okay BR readers hereis a secreteOe (I am trusting that you wonit tell) these cuccidatti are as good as my grandmothers: packed with filling, a hint of orange zest and easy on the dough, this cookie melted in your mouth ($10 per lb).
At this point I wanted to try everything and owner Diane Serra suggested that I try the tiramisu, another dessert that brings me to my knees. This treat exceeded my expectations n mascarpone was as rich, ladyfingers stayed firm, and liquor was very effective, not at all overwhelming.
