Hamilton Houston Lownie Architectsi website has a sneak peak at the renovations planned at the Packard Building located at 1325 Main Street in Midtown. Regan Development expects to spend $4.8 million to convert the historic building at the corner of Riley Street into 40 apartments and ground-floor commercial space. There will also be a pocket park created. The circa 1926 building, originally constructed as an auto dealership and for vehicle storage, is currently owned by Cash Realty & Auctions. Work is expected to be complete in 2007.
The project joins a growing list of redevelopment projects in the area including ArtSpace at 1219 Main Street, and the Squire Mansion, home to Literacy Volunteers at 1313 Main.
It is also across the street from the St. Vincentis Female Orphan Asylum recently profiled by STEEL that has incredible redevelopment potential.
