Thank goodness for the small businesses of Buffalo. Dolci Bakery on Elmwood Avenue is under new ownership and the current trio of entrepreneurs/bakers has big plans for their little corner. David Simpson, Melissa T. Gardener and Richard Buccleu (absent from photo) are going to hold onto the Dolci Bakery name… for now, and are busy planning an additional cafe aspect to the baking business. As the bakery morphs so might the name, but for now the three are hard at work meeting current demands for the ever-popular line of Dolci baked goods (cookies, cakes, pies, etc).
Fast forward: Picture a cafe setting on Breckenridge with an open-air patio that will offer customers a place to relax and enjoy the ‘morning-2-evening’ sun. That’s what the new owners are thinking. They even want to incorporate a gelato bar and bake their own bread… but that is down the road. An exciting part of the recent transition is the soon-to-be-sales of espresso and cappuccino. The eover the baked-good-bari service will be a natural fit for shoppers on the run who need a quick burst of delicious energy.
Iim excited to see how Dolci develops over the next few years. The fact that the business is currently successful and is already thinking about how to better serve the neighborhood in the future is a very good sign.
