With a press conference taking place as early as Wednesday, the whirlwind known as the Buffalo Bills off-season will start with a bang. It looks as though Donahoe will be shown the door, but what does that mean for the rest of the organization? Getting rid of the GM is a start but do you really think that Mularkey has shown that HE deserves another chance? Unfortunately, with three years left on his contract, it looks as though we are stuck with him.
Mularkey is meeting with Ralph Wilson today and I am guessing that he will stay BUT Ralph is going to surround him with some people that actually know a thing or two about play-calling. There has to be a new Offensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach to hold Mularkey’s hand throughout the season. The problem with hiring a new GM is that normally that person is going to want to hire his own Head Coach. This is why I believe that someone from inside (Modrak) is going to be hired with the assumption that Mike Mularkey will be given one more year. As far as I’m concerned, this would be a status quo move as the legacy of Donahoe will continue to hold the strings of the organization.
I know that I could hold off writing this article but I thought it would be interesting to hear some of your thoughts before the cat is let out of the bag. What would you do if you were Mr. Wilson and you did not want to wait four more years to make the playoffs let alone win a Super Bowl? How would you handle the Head Coach situation? I have no doubt in my mind that if Mularkey was not under a contract extension, he would be walking out the door with Donahoe. How about bringing in someone like Mike Martz as an Offensive Coordinator? Will Marv Levy be filling in at some capacity? There are a lot of qualified coaches out there who will be conducting interviews over the next few weeks and it is in Mr. Wilson’s best interest to start looking sooner rather than later. Feel free to add your 2 cents and suggest some solutions of your own. You never know who might be reading!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
