2005’s Last Gusto and 2006’s First

Friday December 30th marks 2005’s final Gusto at the Gallery Free Fridays. But don’t worry, there’s more to come in 2006 beginning with “On Collecting Contemporary Art” Friday January 6. That evening will feature, among other sights and sounds, BR’s own Gabrielle Bouillane (National Poetry Slam veteran) who’ll present the Nickel City Poetry Slam. Stay tuned for an update…
But back to this Friday…December 30 go to the Albright Knox for the performance “Mama’s Songs” beginning at 7pm.

An original production written and performed by Annette Daniels Taylor, this absorbing musical and hip-hop love poem of story songs was inspired by the stories of three generations of women: Cora Lee, a mother; Cilla Mae, a grandmother; and Reatha, a great-grandmother. Annette Daniels Taylor is a playwright, actor, singer, poet, theatre artist, and storyteller. She has performed in such notable venues as the Apollo Theater, Nuyorican Poets Caf , and Harlem School of the Arts. Annette is the writer-in-residence at The Langston Hughes Institute and a member of The Alafia Theater Company and Theater for Change. She is also a teaching artist for The Arts In Education Institute of Western New York and The African American Cultural Center.

Carol McLaughlin Jazz Quartet will perform from 7 – 10 p.m.
Also, there will be Guided Tours of the Permanent Collection at 5, 6, 7pm.
