On July 31, 1901, Thomas Edison was in Buffalo. He was here to witness the illumination from the Esplanade of the centerpiece of the Pan-American Exposition, the Electric Tower which, when lit, was visible from 20 miles away. Electric launches and gondolas were available to visitors along the one-mile Grand Canal. It was the first installation of electrical lighting in the world and itis why Buffalo began to be referred to as the iCity of Lighti.

To pay homage to that magical time in Buffalo, Stuffed Chocolate Ltd, NY offers a creamy velvet artisanal milk chocolate and crunchy hazelnuts called B*F*L*O Berries Light.

Chocolate was actually very much a part of that Pan-American Expo.
Lowney’s Chocolate Buildingis front doors faced its competitor, the Baker’s Chocolate Building. Three stories tall, the first floor was devoted to the sale of Lowney’s chocolate, cocoa, and chocolate bon bons.
The second floor had an office, exhibits, and lady’s waiting room.
The third floor was a beautiful roof garden that was “well worth the visit for the fine view obtainable.”

The first floor of the Bakeris Chocolate Building displayed “different varieties of crude cocoa and the manufactured products therefromi. Hot cocoa was available at the counters as well. The balcony atop the building had tables for visitors being served refreshments.
