Life Is Sweet

This evening marks the WNY Food Bank’s 1st Annual Sweet Charity benefit. A fundraiser of this sort is a new venture for the organization that feeds the less fortunate through more than 500 programs in our region. 700 lucky ticketholders to the sold out event will have the opportunity to indulge in delectable delights from over fifteen of Buffalo’s best restaurants and bakeries. Sweet Charity will also offer an elegant silent auction featuring a wide range of prizes.

Clem Eckert, President and CEO of the WNY Food Bank, is surprised and overwhelmed by the positive response they’ve gotten from the community. “We really couldn’t be happier.” he told me. “I want people to understand how grateful we truly are. Not just those of us at the Food Bank, but the 100,000 people we feed every day.” Mr. Eckert attributes much of the success to the draw of the venue, which is the beautiful Asbury Hall at Ani DiFranco’s Church.

This yearly event is sure to become increasingly popular, and tickets will be in demand. Don't miss out next year, stay updated by logging onto their site (www.sweetcharityevent.com) and signing up for their “E-Mail Club”.

Gretchen-

Sorry to disappoint, I would also have loved to go, The article above does mention that the event is sold out. Isn't it great when the Buffalo community opens it arms to something new!
Can't wait until next year...

Oops. My old English teachers would be disappointed in my lack of detailed reading. Sorry! My friend and I had planned to attend, so instead we went to the Chocolate Bar and enjoyed Cocoa Puff drinks with fabulous desserts. Maybe next year!
