Delizioso Dolci

dolci.jpg
Dolci's selection of treats and sweets is always impressive, and these little 4" cakes confirm that notion. Designed to serve between 2-4 lucky people (depending on portion size), they are a fine finish to a generous meal. Better yet, serve this delectable nosh aside a nice espresso.

Dolci serves a variety of amazing traditional and not-so-traditional cakes. These diminutive beauties are no exception, and are only $9.95 each. Every day customers have an array of eight or nine flavors to choose from. Dolci offers sixteen different specialty cakes, and every possible combination of filling, icing and chocolate or yellow cake that you can imagine. They will also customize both full-size and miniature cakes to your liking.

At 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning I found myself swooning over the display case. It boasted an assortment that included Cassata Cake w/ Rum, Mexican Chocolate Cake (so named because of the addition of cinnamon, almonds and chili powder to scrumptious chocolate cake), Carrot Cake, and traditional yellow cake w/ raspberry filling and buttercream icing.

Three of their specialty flavors are pictured above. Chocolate Intensity is chocolate cake filled and iced with ganache. Buffalo Spree anointed this lovely concoction “Best Chocolate Cake in WNY”. The domed Zuccato cake, adorned with little pink flowers, is iced with ganache, brushed with cognac and filled with cappuccino whipped cream and a layer of chocolate custard. The third is Tiramisu, a classic winter time (or any time) favorite. Pan di Spagna sponge cake is soaked with brandy and espresso, filled with mascarpone cream and iced with whipped cream.

Need I say “YUM!”?
