Where do I get a good breakfast downtown?

snugergvev.jpg
Jessica: Where do I get a good breakfast downtown? It seems like most of the places near my office just have hours-old egg sandwiches in a warmer, or raw bagels and Red Delicious apples. Washington Market is okay but you know what even they don't have? Nice greasy hash browns. Sometimes that's what I want in the morning! Preferably a fast-food style one that looks like a giant tater tot. It's a weakness.

queenseyes: One of the places that I am excited to see open in the year 2007 is Dennis Brinkworth's coffee bar called snug. I have a feeling that this new breakfast joint will be a hotspot for downtowners looking for the items you mention. Located near a Light Rail station, Snug will hopefully be a draw for people who want to enjoy a morning meal while basking in the flavor of one of the city's rebounding historic districts. Sorry that you'll have to wait for my pick, hopefully there are BRO viewers that can lead you to a more immediate fix.

Theo’s at 302 Main Street (across form Ellicott Square) is as greasy as it gets.

Okay, Queenseyes, here's a related question: Did you hear that a Tim Horton's opened in the HSBC building downtown? I haven't been there yet (I work in the Theatre District, not exactly around the corner) but I can't imagine that it's not mobbed.

maybe the place in the Market Arcade (I forget the name). Or Vito's or Globe Market, or Fables Cafe in the library. (I don't know if they all serve breakfast, actually).

You can try Taki's on Court Street as well. They open early, traditional Greek.

I was about to write, "Theo's," when I saw the first post. Greasy and good, just like you remember. It's my go-to spot for HSBC evacuation drills.

I know this place is not downtown but it has great hash browns and its cheap! Amy's place on Main St near the Steer. M-F from 6-9 it has 2 eggs, hash browns and toast for $0.99, can't beat it! Stop by on you way to work !

Wow, well, where to start. I would try any of the greek restaurants. Especially Mythos. Also, Pano's is pretty good, so is the Towne. Betty's offers pretty good breakfasts. Their chorizo breakfast tacos are great!
