The Chautauqua Cafe: Super Salad Bar In A Dynamite Setting

saladbarwref.jpg
One of my favorite places to eat in the city is at the Larkin Building @ Exchange. Not only do they have corporate chefs who will cook you different selections every day, the salad bar is beyond great. The offerings consist of a medley of toppings and sides that make building the salad half the fun. Toppings include olives (green and black), cheese, eggs, carrots, peas, corn, pickles, garbanzo beans, ham, pepperoni, tomatoes, sunflower seeds, beets, crispy croutons and goldfish. Sides of cottage cheese and pasta salad can be scooped into two different sized bowls. There were several different types of balsamic vinaigrettes and imported olive oils, and the creamy dressings and crumbly blue-cheese are also available... as are fresh cut melon and other fruit choices.

Grab a tray, fill it up with coffee, salad, soups, sandwiches and pizza, then take it thought the express line before sitting down with hundreds of office workers who inhabit the historic building. The mid century modern chairs and monster panes of glass give the office eatery a modern corporate look and feel. The friendly staff works to maintain a spotless place to lunch. Breakfast is also available starting at 7:30am during the work week and lunch is served to 2pm. The staff enjoys a small break period in-between. There are plenty of free parking spaces in the Larking District, and as a matter of fact this post is going live due to the free available WiFI. The Chautauqua Cafe is located at 726 Exchange Street.

Yes, the cafe is open to the public fill. Try it out. It's a lot of fun to visit.

how's the view? what floor is the cafe on? is it easy to find, I've never been in the building, now I've got a reason to check it out.

This is a total gem for lunching and they have wi-fi to boot. It's on the ground floor of the building and there's free parking in the ramp nearby and I should mention that the last time I was there there was a travelling historical exhibition in the lobby that rocked.

Hi Newell,
I'm the manager of the Chautauqua Café here at the Larkin Building.
I was thrilled to see your review of our Café.
The Larkin Building has so much to offer and in the Café we try to appeal to all tastes.
We are open to the public Mon- Fri and we also
provide day and evening catering services for small and large events held in the cafe or the spacious main lobby.
