There is an Egg Man (cukoo cachoo)

Yesterday I was having a really old-fashioned kind of day. My friend Kathy and I were in her West Side kitchen preparing to make blueberry muffins from blueberries we had picked ourselves the day before. As we assembled the ingredients and chatted about canning and jams, Kathy told me that eggs were on the way. At 10:30am the cukoo clock sang a pleasant "cu-koo" and there was a knock at the door. It was Mark, her egg man from Akron Farms.
Since 1936 the Akron Poultry Farm has been bringing fresh goods to homes all over Buffalo. Besides Grade AA eggs, they offer chicken, cheese, fresh local seasonal produce and more. I felt as if I had been transported back in time as Mark Midecke handed over 3 dozen eggs and a package of cheese curds from his blue delivery van, and Kathy gave him $6. He also had fresh peaches and corn for sale that day, but Kathy was all set from a visit to the farmer's market. I was intrigued by this 70-year-old family business, and Mark told me that George Kieffer handles deliveries to my neighborhood. Akron Farms delivers to Buffalo every other week between Tuesday and Friday.
Their prices are very reasonable, their products are super fresh and you can't beat the friendly front door service! Give Akron Poultry Farms a call to get on their delivery route, and keep this old-fashioned tradition alive!

My parents live out in Amherst and have been using Akron Poultry for going on two decades. Prices are great, quality of the food is SPECTACULAR... best part is the fresh seasonal produce.
