Buffalonians growing weary of the American way of life – and eating – shouldn’t board the plane just yet. For a true taste of Europe, you can soon set your sights no farther than the dashing blue and white awning on Elmwood Avenue – the future home of Europa Bistro. Owner Michael Pijanowski is putting the final touches on the inviting space, set to open in early October.

Pijanowski will bring to Buffalo what he calls Europe’s “comfort foods” – the traditional food of those who live, work and play in cities across the continent. From perogi’s to blintzes, bigo’s to pot pies, the bistro will bring the distinct tastes of lands thousands of miles away to our own doorstep. And with a 10-person bar, it’ll have the beers and wines of the world to complement them.

The unique new restaurant fills another vacant storefront on a strip that’s beginning to see progress once again, just down the row from the newly opened Lu Modern clothing store.

The bistro’s first patrons will likely find their dining experience to be as warm and colorful as their host, a writer and artist as well as chef. In his first restaurant endeavor, Pijanowski will play on many of his talents – displaying his own and other local artwork while cooking up specialties in the spacious kitchen. The full experience of the space, set to the traditional tunes of Europe, will no doubt make Europa Bistro another distinct dining destination on the strip.
