Welcome to the Buffalo Rising Video Library. Below you will find our growing list of local video intended to inform and entertain--to add to the arsenal of tools we use everyday to cover the city as it is and as it aspires to be.

This year’s program will include Ronan performing new songs from 2 two forthcoming albums, an album of Irish Music from which he will perform the title track, Sing Me An Irish Song, and an album yet to be titled of contemporary favorites such as The Town I Know So Well, and Eric Clapton's Tears From Heaven. In addition, he will also be performing a number of traditional holiday classics.

Students 18 years and younger can save $10 on all $45 and $60 seats with proper ID. Tickets will go on sale Monday, November 17th at 10AM and can be purchased at the HSBC Arena Box Office, Kleinhans Music Hall Box Office, online at www.bpo.org or www.sabres.com. The South Buffalo Ecumenical Association will hold its annual Thanksgiving Eve Worship tonight. In keeping with the program for 2008-1009, the United Nations' Millennium Development Goal to be addressed at this event is to "eradicate extreme poverty and hunger." The guest speaker will be Sister Sharon Goodremote, FSSJ. All are welcome.

The long-anticipated film release by legendary cult-rock band The Flaming Lips, screens at Squeaky Wheel tonight. Record Theater will also be present, doing a special promotional give-away of Flaming Lips paraphernalia. You will also be able to purchase the new DVD release through Record Theater at the show.

Christmas On Mars: A Fantastical Film Freakout is the directorial debut of Wayne Coyne, lead singer and front man for The Flaming Lips. Coyne co-directed with George Salisbury, the audiovisual technician who works with the band. Coyne constructed much of the film’s set, representing Mars, in his very own Oklahoma City backyard.

The film, which has been in various states of production for the last six years, stars Lips' multi-instrumentalist Stephen Drozd as Major Syrtis, an astronaut who celebrates the first Christmas on the red planet after its been colonized.
