"Sewing is the new knitting"

That's what Sandy (owner of Elmwood Village Fabrics) told me after a first time customer walked out of her boutique yesterday. The customer, who had driven in from Batavia, had acted like a kid in a candy shop and kept telling Sandy that her shop was the best fabric shop she had seen (outside of New Mexico where she was from). "People are excited about sewing… sewing clubs are popping up at college campuses everywhere," she said. "That's why I finally decided to start carrying Pfaff sewing machines. I wanted to be a part of getting more people up and running with the hobby"
The Pfaff machines are contemporary and easy to use. They're great for beginners, yet their performance keeps the seasoned sewer happy. Both models ($299/$599) are loaded with features and come with full warranties... and a purchaser gets a free class (from Sandy) on how to use the machine effectively. Sandy even wants to start a sewing club (in the near future) using Pfaff machines. If you're interested in the club, send her an email. Sandy is also interested in getting in touch with qualified sewers who might be interested in teaching a class. Elmwood Village Fabrics (near Bidwell Pkwy) 982 Elmwood Avenue (716) 881-2866.
We visited Elmwood Village Fabrics last year when in town for an event @ the Asbury Church on Delaware Ave. This shop adds so much to the flavor of Elmwood Ave. shopping. It is very different from the other gift and clothing stores and completely original. Sandy knows a great deal about fabric and how to use it to spark up your home or craft project.
