"That guy gypped me; he put daisy stems on my roses!"

That's a movie line that Steve Martin gave to his girl in a memorable scene from the movie, The Jerk. It was the line that I thought of when I bought a bouquet of flowers earlier today, only to realize when I brought them home that they were pretty much dying. Whatever. Instead of taking them back (too late for that anyways) I thought to ask the viewers in BRO Land where they believe the best places are to buy flowers in the city. There are so many choices that it is hard to tell what places have the best choices at any given time. When it comes to consistency I have been striking out.
Where can you find quality flowers at a good price? A shop that you can depend on for a nice selection, healthy flowers, and good service to boot. I know that some people swear by the wholesale flower district down on Ellicott... but are they really wholesale? Is there a trick to finding the ultimate flower shop?
You get what you pay for in the world of flowers. The Floristry on Delaware near Gates Circle is hands down the best in Buffalo. They are consitently good, their arangements are original and vreative, and you will never find a carnation in the mix.
Maureen's, Maureen's, Maureen's. Goodness, queenseyes, where is your head?
they have the selection, folks to help you be creative, vases, ribbons, and if you like they'll just let you wander around and figure out your own. they always have loads of roses, in all colors and stages of bloom.
Maureen's on a Saturday morning around 8 is not to be missed.
THE most important rose tip I've gotten, EVER…
"wildflowers (particularly sunflowers) do not belong in with roses, any good florist should know this."
A long-time wholesaler told me that a year ago, after a particularily short-lived arrangement (I won't say where it came from). I've definitely seen a difference when the arrangement is all-roses. Also, change water daily and re-cut stems.
Where is Maureen's?
My husband tried out the new place [68] on Allen for our Christams table centerpiece. Outstanding in design and quality. Martin gets my vote. [and our daughters wedding]
Martin's new shop on Allen is beautiful! We purchased the Garden Walk book (his own garden on N. Pearl is not to be missed) and a small vase. While enjoying a short chat, he packaged up some lovely fresh lillies for our new vase. Very classy joint with beautiful and fragrant flowers.
maureen's is a wholesale flower shoppe on ellicott street, downtown. this is actually the old flower district and it is true that maureen's is one of the best places to go. they are best for if you want to get something unique, need a little assistance, but still want to d.i.y. the arrangement/s.
another great shoppe is grever's, on main street, also downtown. when i was working on court street, the bank always used this shoppe for it's orders and they always did a bang up job. also quite friendly and accomodating!
There is no doubt -- Martin Kemp Designs @ 68 is the best and most original florist in town. The usual Christmas arrangements, as provided by some popular local florists, bore you to death with the usual red and white carnations with some greens. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Martin's holiday arrangements, on the other hand, feature long-lasting jade roses, pale green cala lilies, orchids, exotic greens and even garden herbs for a beautiful, festive and original look!
Gracer's on Amherst Street always treated me very well. But I am not flower buff...
If you live in NW Bflo,. Gracer's is the place, very helpful, reasonably priced and good merchandise.
