Update: Lu Modern Classics
![]()
It's time to gear up for the grand opening of Lu Modern Classics. The displays are in (for the most part), the light fixtures are being installed tomorrow morning, and Lou is working around the clock to get the store open. The neighborhood is jazzed too. Tonight I met up with Lou and Kym from Damsel in a Dress... the two were running from display to display organizing, and arranging the merchandise. Hooded Gant sweatshirts, dress shirts, and jackets line the wall, the point of purchase systems have been set up, and the kick-ass sound system has been installed. The music (Sirus) was playing throughout both floors and even the front of the building (outside) has been wired for sound.
Lou wants to remind people that half of the merchandise (if not more) is for the ladies. The handbags and the jewelry have arrived and are nestled in between the lines of New Frontier and Nas Nast. Wide planked wood floors make up the sprawling interior landscape and dark wood displays act as backdrops to much of the colorful merchandise that inhabits the space. Friday's the BIG day and someone from BRO will be on hand before the grand opening to provide a little designer eye candy served up by Lu Modern Classics.
The street is really turning into a fashion destination, which hopefully will give the malls a run for its money. LMC is the sixth clothing store to open on Elmwood this summer. This brings the total number of clothing and fashion store to just fewer than 20.
Lou is a great friend and we wish him great success.

I walked by yesterday and noticed the great window display of great looking pieces. I can't wait till it opens and go on a shopping spree.
Great Grand Opening Party LMC, you out did your self, what a huge turn out. I hope the politicians that all showed up don't try to take the credit for all the hard work you did. We all know when the media circus shows up the politicians try to do their hand shaking in front of the lens. I think you hit one out of the park
Right on sohipithurts. Lu did his thang without the politicians. The store is faboulus, original, inviting, warm, and set up very well. I will definitely refere people to Lu Modern Classics.
The turn out last night was great, along with the music, food and drinks. What a great way to indroduce yourself and your business to the public. Wish you all the best of luck.
