Egad! AM Needs a new home...
Allentown Music is searching for a new home! Word on the street is that the building is under sales negotiations and the new owner is looking to turn that corner into a restaurant. The sign in the window says that the business is moving 9-1, and I am sure that Joe (owner) is busy looking for a new home. Neighbors say that he is eying up the old Second Skin shop at the corner of Wadsworth and Allen. Either that or the Frank's location next door.
Supposedly a Hertelian bar owner has been checking out the Frank's location for quite some time, though there has been no recent news or signs of life at the location. Whatever happens Allentown must retain Joe and his Allentown Music shop. Having a music store in Allentown is befitting of the area especially with venues like Neitzsche's and Hardware nearby. There are a ton of musicians in that neck of the woods that would be sad to see it go. I'm crossing my fingers.
From what I understand and I may be wrong... I have heard since the closing of Franks it lost it's statice as a tavern and that location will no longer be granted a liquer license.

I would like to Joe's move to the old Second Skin location, it would be more visiable and more space. And Joe's current location would make a great restaurant or cafe.
Waiting for someone to say "Grant Street" in three ... two ... one ...
It's too bad Allentown Music has to move, but it's a positive indicator of good things happening in the area; more demand than storefronts. Are there any retail vacancies in the area? How about around the corner on Main? University Heights?
