Your Pet Deserves the Best!

We all know that Buffalo is a pet lovers' paradise. It's hard to walk out your door and not run into a neighborhood four-legged friend. There are a few awesome shops in the area, including Elmwood Pet Supply and Sonny's Doggy Bakery. It's nice to see Buffalo going to the dogs, so I was pleased to see that we have another specialty pet shop that recently opened on Bryant.

Animal Outfitters, Inc. opened a couple weeks ago at 264 Bryant St., just east of Elmwood Avenue. A friend gave me a tip about this store the other night and I couldn't wait to check it out, so this afternoon I paid a visit and was instantly greeted my Omar Zahzouhi who runs the shop and co-owns it with his wife, Susana Tejada. It's a lovely, bright, airy shop filled with everything your cat or dog needs: beds, bowls, litter box mats, all natural foods, treats, accessories, greeting cards, even pet spa/aromatherapy care. What's most remarkable about the selection however, is the quality and variety of merchandise coupled with Omar's impressive knowledge of all things related to dogs and cats. Prior to opening this store, Omar worked at a veterinary hospital for 15 years and so he knows a lot about animals. No, this is not your average pet supply store!

I have two cats and often walk into pet stores feeling like kitties don't get the same retail attention that dogs get, but I was very impressed with the products Animal Outfitters carries. As a cat owner himself, Omar has unique and healthy treats (even for kitties with special health concerns), a terrific selection of organic foods, beautiful and fashionable food bowls and litter boxes, litter box mats with groovy prints specially designed to be washable and trap loose litter, catnip cigars and bananas, and kitty aromatherapy products to name just a few. Of course the doggies of Buffalo aren't left out in the cold either. They have a creative selection of food and treats, fashionable collars, leashes, beds, doggie jackets for cold weather, doggie backpacks for hiking, even K9 Optix doggie sunglasses!

On this my first visit, I purchased one of those groovy litter mats, and as a special treat, Omar gave me a sample of 'Kitty Kaviar' for my two little guys to try. Thanks Omar, they love it!

This store has anything you could possibly need to "spoil" your best friend. If they don't have it, ask them and they can probably order it for you. Highly recommended for quality products for your dog or cat.
