You may recall that last month I wrote about an inspiring music and public art project called Pianos in Public (see here).
Since I posted on the subject, the man behind the initiative, Mark Weber, has launched a Kickstarter campaign and is on his way towards raising funds to get the pianos decorated and moved into place. “My plan is to take old pianos that would have been destroyed, paint ’em, and place ’em OUTSIDE in public places around Buffalo, NY.,” Mark expressed in an email that he is circulating at this point. “I’ve been making the media rounds and talking about it, and I need your help; my Kickstarter campaign is running right now, to raise funds to move pianos, paint ’em, store ’em, etc. The first piano is at Canalside in downtown Buffalo now (see photos). I have three uprights waiting for painting/placement, and plenty more offers to take pianos– but I need funds to move ’em– as you can imagine, moving “those heavy old beasts” is not cheap. Every $5 helps… won’t you please share the Kickstarter link with friends? Lets see if the $4000 goal can be reached by June 6th when the campaign ends! Also visit www.beautifulbuffalo.com to see pics/vids and more about the project.”
