A former Buffalo Rising intern who was always passionate about music and film has joined together with video production agency in Buffalo to create Films by Fine. Brett Deneve (intern from Canisius College) and A.M. Fine (grad from Buffalo State) have set out as a two man crew to help grow the local film/video industry. Fine is a video producer who has been specializing in short films, comedy sketches, music videos and commercials. Over the last couple of years, Fine has been spending a lot of his time traversing the country for work, with Deneve holding down the home front. Now the two are focusing on local productions, mainly due to the resurgence of the city. The two feel that Buffalo is prime to become a hotspot for videographers and filmmakers, and are committed to helping grow the industry in various ways.
I met up with Deneve and Fine recently to hear firsthand about some of their latest successes. They told me that they had been working on some pretty big projects, and that they were busy building a dynamic portfolio for Films by Fine. One of their greatest successes came in the form of Koolie High “Breakfast”, which can be viewed below:

Fine and Deneve also put together a skillfully shot production of the Glamour & Glow event “Day of the Dead” in Niagara Falls, NY. The video shows their diversity of shooting, since an event such as G&G can be tough to capture due to the unusual lighting that consists of loads of black light and splashes of fast moving, glowing body paint. The edited sequences turned out to be rather magical:

After hearing about a number of their released videos, ranging from documentaries to Kickstarter campaigns, I asked the film duo about their aspirations and goals for 2016. “Our dream gig? To work on some big feature films,” they told me. “We’re going to continue to make great work, and we’re having fun with the creation process. We’re going to continue to build the brand in Buffalo – this is our hometown and we’re excited to make artistic pieces or informative works. We’re aiming to be a one stop shop, and we’ll be building a team in the process. We’re building a diverse portfolio, working with local musicians such as Zuri Appleby… and we shot The Whoppingers – a dark, surreal comedy shot in Buffalo that is currently in the editing stages.”
Among other accomplishments, Film by Fine won first place at Buffalo Winterfest. They’ve also been ramping up on a series of music videos that will be released in 2016. In the meantime, I’ve tasked them with producing a promotional video for Buffalo that is unlike anything that we have seen thus far. Knowing Deneve, and discovering the talents of Fine, I’m sure that they won’t disappoint.
Below is a compilation of some of their works that have already hit prime time:
