Just when the interest is heating up on the boards about all things local, just when our new issue of Buffalo Rising Magazine: Local Harvest, is born…Buffalo First is winding up for a buy local pitch prior to the holidays. Why? Because it’s the right thing to do. Join them at this Friday’s meet and greet to find out how you can help the cause for buying local.
Buffalo First is a coalition of 140 local, independent businesses throughout Western New York committed to building a strong local economy that values the triple bottom line: people, planet, and profit.
Buffalo First is inviting local independent businesses, business associations and anyone interested in supporting the local economy to the Buffalo First Member Meet & Greet event, meant to prepare for the annual Buy Buffalo Bash, which kicks off Buy Buffalo Week.Through the Buy Buffalo Bash, Buffalo first and its members are trying to encourage the public to shop at community businesses during the holiday season.
Buffalo First Members will enjoy FREE wine and beer at the Meet & Greet from 7 to 9. The Latin Jazz Project will perform at 10. Meet & Greet participants can pick up promotional materials for the Buy Buffalo Bash and Buy Buffalo Week. They can also learn more about Buffalo First membership and Buffalo First’s Sustainable Business initiative.
“Buy Buffalo First is about seeing the forest for the trees. Shopping at local independent businesses keeps three times more money in the local economy; it’s better for our community and the environment. We are trying to get every neighborhood in Western New York working together and thinking local this shopping season, so that the entire community benefits,” Amy Kedron of Buffalo First said.

Buffalo Rising
Sometimes the authors at Buffalo Rising work on collaborative efforts in order to cover various events and stories. These posts can not be attributed to one single author, as it is a combined effort. Often times a formation of a post gets started by one writer and passed along to one or more writers before completion. At times there are author attributions at the end of one of these posts. Other times, “Buffalo Rising” is simply offered up as the creator of the article. In either case, the writing is original to Buffalo Rising.
