Buffalo & Erie County Public Library: Staff Review by Carol Ann Strahl
War brings out the worst in mankind, but also the best. This is a story about the best — two young men, Travis Manion and Brendan Looney, who shared a bond of brotherhood, brought together in the terror of 9/11. Their paths first crossed at Annapolis where they were roommates. There was an instant connection and their friendship grew each day. Upon graduation, Travis joined the Marines and Brendan embraced the challenge of the Navy Seals.
Their sacrifice and love of country is reflected in this heart-rending account of their individual and shared lives. They are now side by side in Section 60 of Arlington National Cemetery — unselfish warriors and devoted friends.
This is Travis and Brendan’s story. It will inspire, fill your heart with pride and your eyes with tears.
