Now that you’ve had a chance to watch the big game, you’re most likely back at work talking about the win, the loss, and the commercials. For some, the commercials were the highlight of the game, or the lowlight as the case may be. Whether you liked the ads, or thought that they were a joke considering the money ($377 million) and the ‘mind-power’ that went into them, as the lights fade from the field, the marketing mayhem of the Super Bowl continues to heat up… at least for a short while.
This evening, Monday, February 8 at 6:00 pm, the Buffalo marketing and advertising community will come together at Shea’s to discuss the best and worst ads viewed during the Super Bowl. UberBowl VI features a series of local marketing and advertising teams, who will be evaluating the TV commercials in front of a panel of judges. The event is hosted by 97 Rock’s Rich “The Bull” Gaenzler.
Now that over 114 million viewers have had a chance to digest the commercials, it’s time for the local experts to draw their own conclusions.
“To be honest, our beloved Buffalo Bills haven’t made it to the “big game” for quite some time, so for many, the Super Bowl commercials have been the main reason to tune in,” said Scott Bartels, President, Advertising Club of Buffalo. “That’s why Uber Bowl has always been a big draw for our club and has sold out the last few years. We’re looking forward to opening up the floor to our members and the community, to have a fun and engaging discussion.”
To me, I thought that almost all of the commercials were pretty lame. The one that stood out to me was the Colgate commercial because I figured that as long as the rest of the commercials were fairly forgettable, I might as well take an important message away from the game (water conservation).
Now it’s time to let the ad games begin. May the best Buffalo ad analysts come away with their Uber Bowl rings after the showdown at Shea’s!
