And the winner is..

The results are in for the Canisuis College Digital Media Festival awards, which garnered 41entrants in three categories – Still Images, Web Design and Animation and Video.

Shown is the winner of the Still Imagery category, Steve Leonard, with a stationery design for Adio Footwear. Entries were judged on design quality (including visual appeal, balance, use of color/contrast, and layout), creative quality (including imaginative and competent use of medium, and originality of concept.

Winners in all categories are listed below, but apparently BRO was on the money with this entry from Fritz Clauss, which wound up taking third place in the video category – not bad for a junior in high school! Fritz also received the "Future Star Award" for a high school student showing the most promise for the future in film.

Now that we've told you about submissions, it's time for the 2007 Digital Media Festival, being held at Canisius College's Digital Media Arts Program from May 24 - 26 at Canisius College. It will occur during the evening on Thursday and Friday, and during the day Saturday. Aspiring digital artists of all kinds will find something of interest in the workshops, whether you're a filmmaker, 3D or Flash animator, programmer or graphic artist.

Comprised of a competition and various workshops/seminars, the show will highlight talent from many interesting local companies, from IBC Digital to Full Circle Studios to Buffalo Rising's own Nick Barone and Chris Buryta, speaking on "Life in a Startup Company". Other subjects include font design, audio remixing, and Actionscript 2.0. Each workshop is 90 minutes long, and space is limited.

This three-day event will be comprised of a competition and various workshops and seminars, including "Working with Multiple layers of Video in Final Cut Pro" and subjects including lighting, audio, and Flash programming. Each workshop is 90 minutes long. The three categories for the competition are Animation and Video Shorts (suggested length: under 10 minutes), Web and Interactive Design, and Still Images (Photography and Illustration). A new series by Buffalo's leading digital media production studio, Full Circle Studios, is a hilarious take-off from the "PC v. Mac" series, pitting a personified Buffalo (played effortlessly by John Kreuzer) against various other cities.
