What on earth?
Ok, so it's a laundromat. Right? Well, Lake Effect Laundromat is also a coffee shop... and a restaurant... and an art gallery (currently exhibiting works by local artists, Morgulis and Fliss)... and a lounge with free internet. Believe me, this is not your everyday laundromat. This place has a wall of twelve tv's in the lounge... right next to the crackling fireplace. There is an area that the kids can play. Need an ATM? Well, they have one. They even have auto vacuum cleaners in the parking lot so you can clean out your ride while you jeans are drying! Check it out. They teamed up with Spot Coffee, The Bijou Grille, and Gramma Mora's, so you can grab a bite to eat while you vacuum out your car. It really is a sight to behold. Believe me, doing the laundry will never be the same again. The only things Lake Effect does not offer are accomodations for the night. For the complete story on Lake Effect, check out B. Battaglia's article in the current issue of Buffalo Rising Magazine. Located 2311 Main St. near The Tri-Main Center.(Pictured above are Helena, Terry, and Adam, who ensure that things run smoothly day and night.)

Pain at the gas pump could lead to a population shift back to the city. That is the conclusion of several recent studies showing declining distant suburb home values and rising middle-class populations in many cities. In Buffalo, many neighborhoods are seeing high demand, but there are few signs that gas prices are a significant factor at this point.
The rising cost of gas is a concern however. In a July survey by the Siena Research Institute, 79 percent of upstate New Yorker …
Downtown workers and residents will be happy to know that a doggie daycare in the Ellicott business district has officially opened. The Puppy Playpen has transformed adjoining abandoned storefronts into a lively center for our four-legged friends. Many of the dogs are being acclimated to urban living… a lifestyle that co-owner Rosanne Higgins (pictured with her Great Dane named Sally) told me comes quite naturally for most of them. “Seeing the dogs in this downtown setting is …
