Urban Roots is Having a Birthday Party

Story Options

To celebrate their first year in their new home, Urban Roots has organized a day filled with workshops and garden-based craft projects for the public to enjoy. All are welcome to attend the celebration, stretching from the morning and into the late evening.

In the morning, children and their parents can learn how to make simple, victorian flower presses that they can decorate and use to dry flowers in the summer. Registration is required for this workshop, so be sure to call 362.8982 or email workshops@urbanroots.org, if you're interested.

After the flower press workshop, party-goers can design their own calico garden, using fabric and paper. They can also try their hand at making a homemade “Chia Pet”, learn about Seed Starting, or paint a decorative rock for the family garden.

Following the afternoon festivities, Urban Roots will celebrate further with a casual gathering for member-owners only. A membership table will be set up at the event for those who are interested. Member-owners have access to monthly discounts, which are viewable on Urban Roots' website.

This event marks a year of hard work and commitment that Urban Roots has brought forth toward the development of a successful cooperative garden center and its dedication to the Buffalo community.
