The Niagara River Greenway Commission has a site that allows citizens to voice their opinions on projects before they happen, via a comment section on their site or through land mail.

On deck until October 31st for the City of Buffalo area: Times Beach Enhancements and Buffalo-Niagara Riverkeeper's Niagara River Riparian Restoration Program. Land mail must be postmarked by the 31st to be considered.

According to Executive Director Rob Belue, all of the projects are subject to this same public review, and meetings are held monthly. All are open to the public.

Full committee meetings, such as the one coming up on October 18th will have a public comment period so that you may speak in front of the commission and reiterate your ideas and opinions before final pronouncement is made on current projects.

"We established this meeting format a few years ago," Belue said. "And it works out well. Having executive committee meetings every other month works best considering that most projects come with a 60 to 90-day timeframe. It gives us time to disseminate all of the information before a decision is made."

GREENWAYS begin with the relocation of HIGHWAYS. Buffalo's valuable and desirable waterfront land should not sacrificed for the convenience of commuters.
