Tom Irwin Takes the Stage

Live comedy will once again take the stage this year at the Market Arcade Film & Arts Centre (MAFAC) as part of Curtain Up! 2005 thanks to the generous support of M&T Bank.
Buffalo native Tom Irwin, who now makes his home in Los Angeles, returns as host of "A Night of Casual Comedy" for the third consecutive year. A professional comedian with experience in LA, New York City, and on Department of Defense tours including several trips this year to Iraq and Afghanistan, Irwin was a key player in the Curtain Up! 2003 and 2004 shows and is thrilled to be back again as host.
Joining Irwin this year are three comedians, Jeff Capri, Eugene Mirman, and Tim Jones who've already drawn rave reviews in appearances around the country, entertaining our troops, and on some of the country's premier TV comedy programs.
Tom, Jeff, Eugene and Tim will have Buffalo rolling in the MAFAC aisles on September 16th starting at 8:30 PM sharp.
Tickets are $25.00 each and are on sale now at www.dipsontheatres.com or by calling 626-9613. Remaining tickets will be on sale at the MAFAC Box office in September.
MAFAC is located at 639 Main Street opposite Shea's. Photo from Michael Jackson's Animal Planet.

Pain at the gas pump could lead to a population shift back to the city. That is the conclusion of several recent studies showing declining distant suburb home values and rising middle-class populations in many cities. In Buffalo, many neighborhoods are seeing high demand, but there are few signs that gas prices are a significant factor at this point.
The rising cost of gas is a concern however. In a July survey by the Siena Research Institute, 79 percent of upstate New Yorker …
