The Return Of The Party On The Portico


The party is right in the view of Mirror Lake, Delaware Park, and the Japanese Gardens and while taking in the scenic backdrop, guests get to hear live music from some popular WNY musical acts. May 16th will be the first Party On The Portico featuring John and Mary and the Valkyries. The band is pictured above and plays acoustic rock and features two former members of the 10,000 Maniacs.
The series runs once a month on Friday evenings from 5pm till 8pm and will feature the following artists:
June 20 – Brian What and Groggy Darlin’ (alternative country and indie folk)
July 18 – Wendell Rivera’s Latin Jazz Ensemble (danceable Latin music)
August 22 – Babik (upbeat gypsy jazz in the vein of Diango Reinhardt)
The series is rain or shine and currently guests can get to check out the museum’s two new exhibits, Shaking Hands and Kissing Babies, a history of presidential campaigns, and Cathedrals of Industry, a display of large-format photographs of the Colonel Ward Pumping Station.

With the ongoing local resurgence of the book as a multi-faceted art form as, the Impact Artists' Gallery in the Tri-Main Building is currently featuring a special exhibition entitled "Books Reborn" Altered Books & Other related Media. hopefully all proceeds will go towards making the historical museum even better looking. The view from the thruway is awesome and some professional lighting and landscaping will make it one of the nicest museums in the country.
